Digital building design is being implemented in Denmark, and DTU participates actively in development of the logical and technical basis. One main objective is to create a digital building model, which can be developed during the design of a building, and which is capable of containing exactly the information needed, so that the basis for decisions is not veiled by too much irrelevant information.
Building Information Modelling, BIM, is an example of a 3D object oriented research-, development-, and dissemination project, which is made and implemented in co-operation with industry and authorities. Tools are developed for simulations and analyses as a part of technical building design documentation, and links are made between tools and 3D based conceptual building models.
